Convert OPUS to MP3
OPUS is the best-sounding codec per kilobyte there is, and it is mostly used where you never see it: voice calls, WhatsApp, YouTube. MP3 is what the rest of the world plays.

The engine files are missing from — copy ffmpeg-core.js and ffmpeg-core.wasm there.
Almost always a mismatched build: the worker is an ES module, so the core has to be the esm one too. Copy ffmpeg-core.js and .wasm from @ffmpeg/core/dist/esm/, not dist/umd/.
not in this build of the converter, so it is not offered.
What you lose
A generation. OPUS at 64 kbps can sound like MP3 at 128, so converting a small OPUS to a small MP3 loses more than it looks — go up in bitrate, and accept the larger file.
What you do not gain
Nothing. A voice note recorded at 24 kbps will sound exactly as compressed as an MP3 five times its size.
What it does to the size
Approximate, for stereo audio at the settings this tool uses by default. The real figure moves with the material — silence and speech compress far better than a full mix.
When this is the right conversion
A voice note or a downloaded clip that your editor, your player or your car refuses to open.
